DailyLens for Android · Health Connect

Your sleep, workouts and steps, right next to your entries

The DailyLens Android app reads sleep, workouts and steps from Health Connect and adds them to your DailyLens account. You see them in Insights → Health and on Today. You can count a workout toward a practice or a goal, and AI chat can draw on them when you ask.

Not on Google Play: you download the APK directly from this page.

Requirements

What you need

  • Android 9 or newer

You can check your version in Settings → About phone.

  • Health Connect

Built into Android 14 and newer. On Android 9 to 13, install Health Connect from Google Play. Your watch or fitness app needs to save its data there.

  • An up-to-date browser

DailyLens opens in your default browser, for example Chrome. Chrome itself is not required.

  • A DailyLens account

You sign in with the same account you use in the browser.

How to check

Installation

Six steps to your first sync

Android asks for a few confirmations because the app doesn't come from Google Play. Here is what you will see along the way.

  1. Download the APK

Open this page on your phone and tap Download APK. If your browser asks whether to keep the file, confirm.

  2. Allow installs from this source

When you open the file, Android asks whether your browser may install apps. Turn on Allow from this source, then go back and continue installing.

  3. Play Protect notice

Google Play Protect may say it doesn't recognize the app and offer to scan it. Let it scan, then continue. If Play Protect reports the app as harmful, don't install it, and check that you downloaded it from dailylens.app/android.

  4. Install

Tap Install. Afterwards you can switch off your browser's permission to install apps again.

  5. Open the app and sign in

DailyLens opens in an app window run by your browser. Sign in with your usual account.

  6. Connect your phone in Settings → Health

Turn on Allow health data import, choose Add device, then Continue with Health Connect. Check the account the phone shows and tap Connect. Health Connect then asks which data DailyLens may read. The first sync covers the last 30 days.

Updates

Updates come through the app

An app from outside Google Play doesn't update itself. DailyLens tells you when a new version is ready.

  • A banner when there's a new version

The app checks once a day. When a newer version is published, it shows a banner and a notification that open this page.

  • Install over the current version

Download the new APK and install it. Your connection and settings stay, so there's no need to connect the phone again.

  • Only our signed builds install as updates

Android accepts an update only if it carries the same signature as the installed app, so a modified APK can't replace DailyLens.

Privacy

What the app reads and where it goes

Health data import stays off until you turn it on in DailyLens. You decide which data Health Connect shares, and you can stop it at any time.

  • What is read

Sleep (with stages when your watch records them), workouts (type and duration, plus distance, active calories and heart rate when they were recorded) and daily step totals. Read only: DailyLens writes nothing to Health Connect.

  • Where it is stored

Imported data is stored in your DailyLens account on DailyLens servers. The phone keeps only what is waiting to be sent, in the app's private storage.

  • AI uses it only while the import is on

AI chat and reports can take imported sleep, workouts and steps into account while the import is on. When you use them, the data they need goes to DailyLens servers and AI providers. Turn the import off and AI stops using it.

  • Disconnecting

Disconnect the phone in DailyLens under Settings → Health and choose whether to keep or delete the data it imported. You can also tap Disconnect this phone in the app, or withdraw any permission in Health Connect at any time.

  • Deleting

In Settings → Health, Delete imported data removes imported nights, workouts and step counts, the sync history and the practice entries the import created. Summaries and reports that AI has already written stay in your account. Deleting your account removes everything.

FAQ

Questions before you install

Is the app on Google Play?

No. DailyLens for Android is published only on this page. Every release is signed with the same DailyLens key and listed here with its SHA-256 checksum, and the app tells you when a new version is available.

Why does Android warn me during installation?

Android shows a warning for every app installed from outside Google Play. Download the APK only from dailylens.app/android, check that the version matches this page and, if you want to be certain, compare the SHA-256 checksum. You can also let Play Protect scan the app first.

How do I check the SHA-256 checksum?

On a computer, run certutil -hashfile <file> SHA256 on Windows, shasum -a 256 <file> on macOS or sha256sum <file> on Linux. On a phone, use a file manager or checksum app that shows SHA-256. The result must match the checksum on this page character for character.

Do I need the app to use DailyLens on Android?

No. DailyLens works in your browser at dailylens.app/go. The app adds what a browser can't do: reading sleep, workouts and steps from Health Connect and sending them to your account in the background.

How often does the app sync?

The first connection reads the last 30 days. After that, the app syncs each time you open it and, if you allow background access in Health Connect, about every 30 minutes when Android lets it run.

What happens if I uninstall the app?

The phone stops sending data. Everything already imported stays in your account until you delete it in Settings → Health. Disconnect the phone there as well.

Already using DailyLens?

Your account works in the app too

Sign in as usual. Once the app is installed, connect your phone in Settings → Health and imported data appears next to your entries.
